This is not an OCD thing. This is me implementing the above suggestion/reminder of everything having its own place! I’m getting better at this habit!
Now that I’ve moved my workspace out of the way, I’m striving to keep the kitchen clear of any overflow of my stuff. When I notice myself falling into old patterns, leaving books, pens, post-its and other stuff on the center island, I quickly say NO, not today! And I take the extra second to put things in their new and rightful place!
Everything we touch, read, think, feel, use, see, and keep, can have its own designated proper home. Including, but not limited to, our belongings, digital files, photos, apps, ideas, emotions, problems, projects, etc. The list goes on and on. The question is: “Where does it go?”
Take the time to figure out WHERE each thing goes. Out of the way, easy to find, and somewhere that makes sense. Allowing for the ability to put it down, step away from it…and pick it up later. When the time is right to use it again, deal with it finally, spend time with it happily. Whatever “IT” is. There it is, in its proper place. Waiting for you.
A highly motivating habit! I can’t wait to tackle more areas of my life! The physical places, the digital places, and even the mental spaces, that have become cluttered with things that need sorting out. Think about that for a minute! Can you relate?
While I accept the fact I will never perfectly have everything in its place, this resurrected habit is quickly becoming something I have to have!
