Things I Have to Have: Stationery

Spelled with an “e”, for envelope!

Do you get a special feeling when you receive a handwritten letter or note? Like you matter? There’s no comparison, right? So much better than a text, email or phone message.

No one can predict if this mode of communication will withstand the test of time, but I certainly hope it does! There are occasions a handwritten note, message, thank you is absolutely necessary to express gratitude and acknowledgment of another’s generosity, actions, or mere existence! The recipient will be touched by the gesture as well. Who doesn’t want that?

I firmly believe in having some kind of stationery, on hand, at all times. Nothing to hinder the flow of communicating gratitude in this way. Each person in my family is equipped with their own stationery, and plenty of it! Not having it, or being out of it, cannot be the reason for a missed opportunity to make someone feel properly appreciated.

I enjoy picking out stationery, creating it, the colors, the design. Similar to how we decorate, or the clothing we wear, stationery can be a reflection of our personal style. But more importantly, it’s about the other person getting a really nice note, card, piece of mail, message that says, “I am thinking about you”, in so many words.

For that alone, stationery is something I have to have. Do you agree?
