Not a bad word (hehe), peonies are perennial flowering plants that bloom in late spring. And in my humble opinion, they are one of God’s greatest creations!
Their arrival is a signal we are IN spring, my favorite season! And heading into summer, which I absolutely love too! I savor these warmer months, for the delight they bring me, on so many levels.
While the peony blooms come quickly, and seemingly all at once, they have longevity for enjoyment. As I cut a few each day, I can’t help but be grateful for the blessing of their beauty. For me, their annual debut is a gentle reminder to be present in ALL things, as often as possible. To have gratitude for the beauty in them, and everything in my life.
I am delighted to no end as I spend time gazing upon their lush blooms, the gazillion petals slowly revealing themselves… It’s one of those things that just hits me the right way. They are like none other… simply STUNNING!
Considered by some as mere flowers, these elegant blooms have a profound way of shifting my mindset to presence and gratitude. I am a participating witness to something beyond my full comprehension. I am awestruck! How about you?
This is why peonies have become something I have to have. Rather than “stopping to smell the roses”, I prefer to stop…gaze…and be grateful to take in the peonies! In all their glory!
