Things I Have to Have: The Shazam app

Not just for music! Who knew?

A friend recently asked me what song I was playing and I told her to “shazam it”. Well, she had no idea what I was talking about! That’s when I knew I had to share about the Shazam app. This is for all who don’t know about it, and for all who don’t even know they WANT it!

Shazam is a free mobile app that allows users to identify music, movies, TV shows and ads by listening to a snippet of audio. It not only identifies, it provides title, artist, album and more!

I use it specifically to identify music that I like, or just don’t know, and then I drop the songs into an ongoing playlist in my iTunes. If you don’t have a similar system, or don’t have any system at all, know that Shazam stores all things you’ve “shazamed”. You can simply go into the app and scroll back for the whole list of everything you’ve ever “shazamed” and listen to the songs, in their entirety. It will even suggest playlists based on genre of songs in your list, which is something I did not know, and I think is VERY COOL!

Now is a great time of year to start collecting songs you like for a summer playlist! I seem to have a playlist for every season, for every year. I’m always collecting music and making playlists for different seasons, situations and friends. I mean, making playlists is like the same as making a mixed tape! Right? I’m dating myself, I know…

IMPORTANT TIP: I keep Shazam on the main screen of my iPhone. Right there with all the icons I use most frequently and need instantly. Let me put it this way…it’s NEXT to my camera! Yeah, it’s THAT important! Making it something I have to have!

If you need help getting this, understanding this, or making sense of WHY you NEED and WANT this, let me know. I will help you!

Click reply and let me know if you are a playlist person. Or want to be!  And how you store YOUR music.
